Moving Background

Boundaries of the Boundless
Photograph

This image was taken as a part of a school project where our task was to take photos of urban areas in our city. The thing I like about this image is that it's more than just a pretty picture. The photograph captures a wooden walkway, leading the eye straight to a sign declaring "Private Area," an ironic sentinel in a scene that seems to belong to everyone and no one at once.

The sign's message, a comment on ownership amidst openness, becomes a profound statement on the nature of urban spaces. It speaks to the way such areas are carved up, owned, and restricted, often sitting in contrast to the freedom and boundlessness suggested by the ocean's expanse. The viewer is left to ponder the paradox of the sign's existence in such a calm, open space, where the water's edge promises endless possibility, yet the sign insists on limitation and control.

During this project I got to work on my photography skills, as well as my editing skills. This was still very early in my career but showed me how simple yet challenging taking good photos can be. Is it perfect no, with the knowledge I have now I think I could make the photo even better, but I think it stands as a good benchmark of where I was, and where I'm going
